CARICHE SOCIALI
President Established in 1921, Ammonia Casale contributed to the history of Ammonia Synthesis.
Thanks to a rapid expansion in the last thirty years, Ammonia Casale has been the
Umberto Zardi fulcrum around which the Casale Group built up. The Casale Group incorporates also
Urea Casale, Methanol Casale and Casale Chemicals companies.
CEO The Casale Group is a world leader in the technologies for nitrogen based fertilisers
Giuseppe Guarino (Ammonia/Urea) and methanol. It is also expanding in the methanol derivatives sector
and synthesis gas production using the group’s own Auto-Thermal Reforming (ATR) and
COO Partial Oxidation (POx) technologies.
Federico Zardi
An activity in which the group especially stands out is the plant revamping, a concept
INDIRIZZO pioneered about 30 years ago, for which the Group may provide innovative solutions for
Ammonia Casale SA all kind of ammonia, urea and methanol plants.
In 2013 Urea Casale SA has acquired from Borealis, a leading polyolefin provider, the
Urea Casale SA Melamine High Pressure Technology as well as their newly developed Super High
Methanol Casale SA Pressure Process Technology. This acquisition is consistent with Casale’s long term
Casale Chemicals SA strategic goals as it expands the Company’s portfolio of technologies and know-how
with a new product having strong synergy with the Group’s current product portfolio
Via Giulio Pocobelli, 6 and market base.
6900 Lugano (Svizzera) Depending on the needs of the client, a revamping project may aim at increasing the
tel. +41 (0)91 6419200 plant capacity and/or reducing energy consumption. This is achieved by adopting
fax +41 (0)91 6419291 innovative process schemes or by boosting the efficiency of key equipment (e.g.
reactors).

The Casale Group is also able to design new plants, underpinned by their own
www.casale.ch proprietary technologies.
Besides, the Group can offer innovative designs of key equipment, such as reactors for
ammonia and methanol plants, and high pressure equipment for urea plants.
The success of the Group in the last 30 years is marked by more than 500 projects
completed all over the world.
