La Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference 2016 (GOC 2016), tenutasi a Baku in Azerbaijan dal 1° al 4
giugno scorso, è il più grande e importante evento espositivo della zona del Mar Caspio per l’industria oil & gas.
Giunta alla sua 23esima edizione, la manifestazione è un’ottima opportunità per approfondire la conoscenza del
tessuto produttivo locale e per avere aggiornamenti sui principali trend di mercato e le ultime innovazioni in ambito
tecnologico.
L’Azerbaijan è tra i più antichi produttori di petrolio al mondo e il principale fornitore di materie prime energetiche del
mercato europeo. Tradizionalmente focalizzato sull’upstream, sta sviluppando una serie di progetti sia per potenziare
la rete infrastrutturale per le esportazioni di gas, sia per aumentare la capacità produttiva del settore downstream.
In questo senso, i rapporti con l’Italia negli ultimi anni si sono ulteriormente rafforzati, grazie anche alla decisione del
Consorzio Shaz-Deniz di trasportare il gas azero in Italia attraverso il gasdotto TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline).
Il Gruppo Maire Tecnimont, che ha partecipato con un suo stand alla manifestazione espositiva, sta realizzando
in Azerbaijan due importanti progetti petrolchimici nell’area industriale di Sumgayit, vicino a Baku. I due progetti
riguardano la realizzazione su base EPC di un impianto polietilene ad alta densità, e di un impianto di polipropilene,
il primo nella storia del Paese. Le due iniziative si inquadrano nell’ampio piano di sviluppo del settore downstream,
una delle priorità individuate dal Governo azero per promuovere una differenziazione sostenibile delle proprie attività
produttive.
