Women in Engineering,
the Milan experience
This year, due to COVID-19, we could not organise an in-person meeting,
however Wood’s INWED 2020 video enabled us to celebrate and have
our voices heard. This was an excellent opportunity to give us a platform
to reflect on the role of women in our sector and to share how our ideas
“Shape the World”.
During the celebrations for INWED 2019 which took place in our Milan
headquarters, over 60 women joined together in a meeting aiming at
sharing views and
celebrating diversity in the workplace. The purpose was to exchange ideas and
experiences in an informal and friendly atmosphere where everybody could feel
encouraged to share thoughts and opinions in a frank and open way. More than
60 women with different levels of seniority gathered to listen to their colleagues
and share their own professional and personal experiences.
Valuing the contribution that women bring, the Milan office has been employing
women in technical roles for four decades. Our team is now 31% women in the
workforce and is increasing. We aim to increase this percentage to have women
in every discipline of the company.
We are proud to say that today, we have four women covering strategic positions
in the company, reporting to the managing director.

Quest’anno il tema era “#ShapeTheWorld”. Per celebrare adeguatamente questo giorno, in Wood abbiamo incontrato alcuni
dei nostri ingegneri, non solo per scoprire come stiano “plasmando il mondo”, ma anche in che modo contribuiscano a rendere
il nostro pianeta un luogo migliore, più sicuro, più innovativo ed emozionante in cui vivere, e come costituire un esempio e
ispirare le nuove generazioni.
