RENEWABLE
Opportunity for the italian
contractors and products
The new transition to renewable
or low energy desalination
“offers another opportunity for
the consolidated experience of
italian manufacturers
Italy took a leading role in thermal desalination and
at a certain time in the history of the industry had a
majority of market shares. This market share was
lost as contractors did not fully understand the im-
pact of the technology transition that was taking
place from thermal desalination to SWRO. This
new transition to renewable or low energy desali-

in SWRO plant down during peak time. In this case, electricity cost of the consolidated experience of italian manufac-

corresponding water tariff could be as low as 0.2 technical excellence re gain lost market shares in
to 0.25 US$/m . the sector.
