ANIMP Multiphase Flow Session
Election of the new Stirring Committee
Recently, the new Stirring Committed of the Multiphase Flow session of ANIMP has been elected. For the next
two years the Committee will generate and organize the activities related to the multiphase phenomena and their
industry applications and relevance. As usual, it is equally composed of University and Industry members (in
alphabetical order):
∑ Antonio Bennardo, Eni (Milano) antonio.bennardo@eni.com
∑ Maurizio Bevilacqua, Univpm (Ancona) m.bevilacqua@univpm.it
∑ Gianpiero Celata, Enea (Casaccia, Roma) celata@enea.it
∑ Renzo Di Felice, Unige (Genova) difelice@istic.unige.it
∑ Alberto Giulio Di Lullo, Eni (Milano) alberto.dilullo@eni.com
∑ Alberto Di Renzo, Unical (Cosenza) alberto.direnzo@unical.it
∑ Francesco Ferrini, Techfem (Fano) fr.ferrini@techfem.it
∑ Alessandro Paglianti, Unibo (Bologna) alessandro.paglianti@unibo.it
∑ Pietro Poesio, Unibs (Brescia) pietro.poesio@unibs.it
∑ Matteo Sironi, Flowserve (Milano) msironi@flowserve.com
∑ Alfredo Soldati, Uniud (Udine) alfredo.soldati@uniud.it
∑ Alessandro Terenzi, Saipem (Fano) alessandro.terenzi@saipem.com
As requested unanimously by the Committee members, Francesco Ferrini has been confirmed as the Session
Coordinator.
With respect to the two year ahead, a major task of the Committee will be the organization of the traditional biennial
Multiphase Flow Conference, which will be held in September 2017. It represents a well-accepted international
event where the academic and industry worlds can meet and update each other on new developments and new
needs. The venue of the conference will be as always chosen so that the beauty of the context can foster the
exchange of ideas and setting up new ambitious challenges.
With respect to the latter, the recent complex economic background forces each discipline to contribute at its
best to keep our industry competitive and innovative on the international markets. To be more effective we will
need to generate new “sparks” from the contact between different cultures and methods.
Along these lines, the Committee will generate new events (meetings, workshops) with other confining professional
associations (such as the Society of Petroleum Engineers, with which there is a mutual interest), will amplify the
information about conferences of mutual interest and will explore new ideas to multiply the contacts between
university researchers and industry technologists.
A broad theme where the multiphase knowledge and technology can contribute is that of Energy Efficiency, i.e.
how to design plants with the lowest energy consumption to provide the same (or better) products or services.
This topic goes hand in hand with an improved environmental impact and Sustainable Energy. For example, in
energy production, Energy Efficiency means using less energy to provide the same level of energy output. As
another examples, it has been recently discovered that airplanes can save million barrels of fuel just by better
controlling the landing route. Just how many ideas and technologies can we generate by openly discussing such
topics?
We hope that the new initiatives and new ideas will generate even more enthusiasm in our active members and
specialists.
Our best wishes for a successful work!
Buon lavoro a tutti!
