An Industrial Opportunity and a
Challenge for our Times

This is a trip inside the ITER Project to discover the peculiarities and the essence of an extraordinary
adventure which belongs to each one of us. We cannot talk about such a unique project without
having lived it from the inside, with its exciting challenges and its overwhelming problems. It’s a trip in
the uniqueness of its organization with seven stakeholders who finance the project together, together
develop its engineering content and supply the plant systems and components, all this thanks to the
active participation of their countries’ industrial systems. It’s a trip inside the engineering solutions so
prototypical to appear extremely challenging and perhaps impossible at a first glance. It’s a trip inside
the nuclear engineering of the future to produce energy for everybody, at low costs and in the simplest
and most natural ways. It’s a trip into the sun to try to understand our source of life and to simulate it
inside the ultra-technological walls of a vacuum vessel.
