Roberto Radaelli, Project Director, graduated in 1991 in Industrial Chemistry at the Universita’ degli Studi
di Milano, has accumulated more than 25 years of project execution experience with Foster Wheeler, now

Initially as Process Engineer, then as Project Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager and finally
as Project Director, Roberto gained a wide experience in the development of chemical and petrochemical
plants from the very first start of engineering activities up to the mechanical completion, with extensive as-
signments abroad, mainly in Europe, Middle East and Far East.
Total Optara Lot3A Project – Raffineria
di Anversa (Belgio)
Nel maggio 2013, come parte dell’Optara Project da eseguirsi presso la raffineria di Anversa, Total ha
assegnato l’esecuzione del Lot3A ad Amec Foster Wheeler Italiana, oggi Wood.
L’obiettivo di Total con l’Optara Project è stato quello di aumentare la produttività della propria raffineria
incrementandone la capacità di trattare il residuo del vuoto, allo scopo di produrre maggior quantità di
diesel e jet fuel, diminuendone di conseguenza quella di fuel oil e benzine.
Lo scopo del lavoro di Amec Foster Wheeler, il cui contratto è stato assegnato su base LSS per i servizi
di ingegneria e acquisti e su base rimborsabile per i costi dei materiali e di costruzione, includeva la
realizzazione di una nuova High Pressure Boilers Unit, di un nuovo impianto di Sour Water Stripper e
sostanziali modifiche alle unità Utilities e Offsites e all’Interconnecting tra le varie unità di processo nuove
ed esistenti.
Durante la sua esecuzione il progetto ha incontrato diverse difficoltà che sono state superate grazie alla
collaborazione di tutte le componenti coinvolte.
L’alta qualità del lavoro da noi svolto ha permesso alla raffineria l’avviamento senza problemi delle unità
coinvolte nel progetto e il rispetto delle tempistiche richieste dalle esigenze di produzione.
Il 30 novembre 2017 Total ha celebrato il completamento dell’Optara Project con un grande evento, che
ha coinvolto tutte le società che vi hanno lavorato, il loro top management e le autorità locali.
